In this Soulati Media On The Street segment with Margie Clayman of Clayman Advertising coming to you from Social Slam 2012, Margie waxes poetic about Facebook. She’s one of the most prolific Facebook users I’ve seen, and she bridges personal with business for her firm.
I recommend a listen/watch, and I also recommend a follow. You’ll learn something from this woman because she knows which end is up on the Interwebz! Thanks for playing, Margie!

Great comments, Margie. I agree with you and think that even in non-family-owned businesses like professional services (legal, accounting, A/E) social media affords a tremendous opportunity to let people get to know you a little better. I also think the Facebook audience has a true interest in the business news and offerings; our LIKES may be fewer but they are generally better quality.

@pmswish Where is that Margie? Did she just do a fly by?
margieclayman says
@pmswish Thank you! Yes, in any type of business getting to know people is 100% key. I think when your last name is on the door though, people tend to draw more correlation between who you are as a person and what you might be like in the business world. Of course, this is not always a quid pro quo, but at least it helps you give a good guess, right? 🙂

Wow, was that really THE Margie Clayman? I wasn’t sure if she actually existed; I thought maybe her legendary status was only mythical. And who does she work for? I don’t think I caught that…….
I don’t think I’ve ever seen her on Facebook………………….not…………………:).
Twitter’s still my gig; all Facebook does is let people know how much I’m goofing off and we can’t be having that now, can we?
I seriously stalk Margie; she still doesn’t know what to do with me. She tolerates me for now.

@bdorman264 You better watch it; that Margie is ornery on FB sometimes; I’ve seen it! Great to have you in my house especially as I’ve not been to anyone’s house in weeks; sigh. Thank you!
margieclayman says
@bdorman264 I know exactly what to do with you, Bill. Give you a BEEG HUG. But you keep avoiding me. Very odd behavior for a stalker. I don’t quite get it. But who am I to question a professional? 🙂
bdorman264 says
@margieclayman One thing you can count on with me is, I NEVER avoid a hug….:).

I totally agree, Margie! I have gravitated more to FB lately than Twitter and I used to be an AVID tweeter….well, for me anyway. I think it’s as you stated so eloquently here: we get to know people more in the FB realm than on Twitter and it IS less business (or sales-oriented) than Twitter. On FB, people can connect and get to see a more intimate side of a person, even when tied to a business.
And thumbs up on George Takei!
margieclayman says
@EricaAllison Thanks Erica! Yeah, it’s hard to imagine how I spent so much time on Twitter at first. It seems like it has become more broadcasty than it was a couple of years ago – not as many chances to talk to people. Whereas on Facebook – you can just barge in on anyone, even people you don’t know sometimes. How fun is that??? 🙂

Adding to my list, Go to Social Slam 2013. Looks like you got to meet many of my favorite blogging neighbors.
margieclayman says
@susansilver You should totally add it to your list!!!

Thanks for all of this, Jayme. I’m sorry I’m a tush-head and am only getting here now. For some reason I thought you were tweeting out the link to the YouTube video and I didn’t realize you had written this whole very kind post.
I stink 🙁
Thank you!!!!
