How’s your browser? No, I didn’t say bowser.
I’m talking about Mozilla (not gorilla) Firefox, Google Chrome, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Safari, and other steroidal and hormonal necessities of online life as we know it.
From the sounds of it, we can jump into a chrome fox mobile and explore while on a hot safari.
I don’t know about you, but I’m a wee bit tired of the issues with browsers of late:
- Google and Java don’t like each other.
- Heck, Firefox and Java don’t get along, either.
- Java and Shockwave interfere with Facebook.
- Chrome doesn’t work with my webinar hosting platform.
- Firefox is the best blog publishing browser, but there are glitches with Chrome.
- Browser plug-ins? Fuhgeddaboudit. Don’t try them; stay basic.
- Chrome is for anything else.
- Safari is just for Apple.
- Internet Explorer? Uhmm, who uses that?
- Mac and Windows are arch enemies; that’s why I have to run both side by side with one browser for one OS and another browser for the other…or some such.
Get my drift?
My prediction: Web browsers will control the world; heck, they already do. (Not you hackers.)
I will cry harder because my work product productivity is seriously suffering already. Every day. I wish I was born an IT guru; the problem is my mom loved to read, so she probably read me books on creativity while I was nesting in her belly.
Back to our African safari…let’s throw in the food. The only thing I know for sure is to eat your cookies and clear your dough, I mean cache.
Clear your cache every two to three days and your browser should work fine. At least, that’s what all IT support tells me.

Hi Jayme – tech stuff can be challenging for sure… Always something – all require time and first hand know-how to steam line your productivity…
For me, a big pain in the buttskie!

@Mark_Harai No, I’m serious. We will be paying through the nostrils very soon for this privilege.

I hear you. I do love Chrome, but Vine doesn’t work in it…etc. I think the competitor to the web browser is the app (perhaps someone else has already said this, no idea). I think apps are going to mess those browsers right up. And good!

@jennwhinnem I need a solution. I’m dying over here.

Chrome’s my baby. Love the extensions! TIP: Turn off Java in Control Panel. You’ll rarely, if ever, need it. And if you do, you can just turn it back on.

@mikepoynton Interesting that you can live without Java? I find I need it for a ton of things. But, maybe I will try it, Mike. Thanks for coming over! My developer told me I should use Firefox for blog publishing, though.

Ok I lurk.. but somehow – me, a total browser dork, missed this? And IIRC, I told you to check out Chrome when you got your big iMac. And past the browser wars – you forgot the Flash vs. HTML5 battle – are the integration, app battles. Think of the plugs you use, the tools for workflow; the better they work across all platforms, the more you’ll use them. As to your IT difficulties, I’m still a multitasker – dedicate Safari for more personal tasks (though some pro), Chrome is mostly work, FF is kinda in between. Divide and conquer I guess. FWIW.
Soulati | B2B Social Media Marketing says
3HatsComm I love Chrome, as a matter of fact; then my developer told me to use FF for publishing. When Chrome and Mozilla began Java wars, all bets are off. As for the rest of what you know? I’m just a whiner…trying to keep my productivity efficient and recognizing the online world is blowing up.
Safari is for iPad; wonder whether to trust an Apple only browser?
3HatsComm says
Soulati | B2B Social Media Marketing 3HatsComm They’ve tried to make Safari more PC friendly but it’s a nonstarter. And most of this is for ‘us’ – can’t tell you the number of successful professionals I know who still use IE, have no concept of options, Clouds, etc. Though when it comes to technology, I think we do tend to drive trends and changes?? We’ll see.
