Here is a second installment of the Soulati Media On The Street video series I shot live at Social Slam 2012. Like a kid in a candy store, I bring you special guest Patty Swisher who directs marcomm, public relations and social marketing for Pittsburgh architectural firm IKM Architects.
As a 100-year-old firm, IKM is considered progressive in its social media engagement with Patty at the helm. Patty manages the firm’s Twitter account and Facebook page (go ahead, give ’em a like), and she’s also instrumental in spreading the good news about social marketing to others in architecture services.
See more from Patty right here, and thanks, Lady, for being my guest in this ever-so-spontaneous affair!

Jayme,
As I have said, you CAPTURED the spirit of the social media conference with your Soulati Media “On the Street” videos. A true PR professional, you jumped on an opportunity to implement the great tips we were learning at the full-day of sessions.
I had a great time at the conference; I’ve been spreading the word via WOM marketing to all of my social media and A/E/C industry friends that this is a ‘must-see’ and must attend conference. It was wonderful meeting you and many others IRL and only strengthened the friendships we have built online.
Keep up the great work! Your clients are in good hands with you at the helm of Soulati Media.
Thanks so much for the opportunity!

@pmswish You did so well on the spot! And, for anyone following this series, when each, ahem, guinea pig, asked me what I was going to ask, I had no response. The questions were unprepared and in the moment, too. So this was spontaneous slapstick all the way around!
It is cool to hear what you’re doing today versus where you were a year ago, Patty. I recall trying to get you to attend SoSlam 2011, and you just weren’t quite there yet. Thanks for playing!

What a great initiative Jayme! For someone who was unable to go along, this is awesome. Thank you so much for these insightful videos.

@jonbuscall Thanks, Jon! About 7 more to come, I think?! I love this medium; just don’t make me try to look directly into the camera; that’s so hard! I have to learn to slow down; I get so excited.

@Soulati | B2B Social Media Marketing @jonbuscall I was told it’s better NOT to look into the camera

Again, pleased to meet you, Patty; so glad Jayme was able to corner you for a moment. I like how you mentioned the fact that third-parties are key to the growing confidence that even a hundred-year-old firm can feel in something so… young as social media to give it a good push toward its goals.
And thank you, Jayme, for making us feel like we were there, too! Listening to the speeches is catch-up fodder, but talking to people in the trenches is “I was there.”
Soulati | B2B Social Media Marketing says
@ShakirahDawud Thanks, Shakirah. Can’t wait to introduce the others here, too. Puts more of a face/voice to a name, eh?
pmswish says
@ShakirahDawud Thanks for your kind words, Shakirah. Hopefully we will meet IRL at the next SoSlam event… or before. Until then, see you here at Jayme’s blog and on twitter, too!

I loved getting to meet Patty in person finally. She is just the nicest person. Also smart, great skin, and willing to hear me out on my ideas about hospital design.

@jennwhinnem Hahahahaha. That is the funniest comment I’ve ever read. LOL. #RockHot

Jayme, as a designer working in Canada for one of the largest firms here this gives me hope. If IKM can do it then so can we. There are a few A+D firms out there that have embraced socila media but not enough. HUGE emerging market and coincidentally my niche.
Excited! Yes sir. Going to have to reach out to Patty.

@rdopping So happy about this! @pmswish I hope you two connect. #RockHot!

@rdopping Hi Ralph, thank you for the kind comments. I completely agree with you, this is a tremendous opportunity for A/E/C firms to build community, stand out from the crowd, and create added value in thought leadership. I look forward to trading tweets! @pmswish and @ikminc. Thanks much!
